キッチン改装ほぼ終了！窓が違うとこんなに違う。Kitchen renovation is done! Window effect.

この美しい村の、ボロボロの古いトレーラーハウスに引っ越してからもう７ヶ月。

ついについに、キッチンが出来上がりましたー！！

It's been 7 months since we moved into the old, shabby trailer house in this beautiful village. FINALLY! the kitchen is done!!!

こんな状態が長い事続き（笑）、いやこれでもオリジナルの状態から比べれば立派なもんだったんですが．．．

It was like that for a (long) while, lol, but that was still much better than very original kitchen. 

夫がほぼ一人で頑張りました。大工仕事に関しては、私は全く信用されていないようなので．．．（笑）

My husband was keeping building this all by himself because he seems like not trusting me for this kind of labours. lol.

天井に貼ったビードボートのつなぎ目を隠すためにベースボード付けましたが、カントリー調に見えるでしょうか。

He attached base-boards to the gaps between bead-borads on the ceiling to hide them. I think it's effective to create more country cottage atmosphere.  

随分前から狙っていた水色の時計もついに手に入れて、

We added a blue clock, that we had been aiming at the gift shop for a while, onto our shelf,

夫に頼んで、木のパネルを作って頂き、

and I asked hubby to make me a wooden panel for...

ガスレンジの上の空いた場所にサインパネルを作りました。言わずもがな、熊のプーさんの台詞です。彼の様にシンプルで、楽しく幸せに生きたいな、と。

the opening above gas stove. I made a sign panel with a quote form "Winnie the Pooh" to wish our lives are simple yet fun and full fill with love as his life.

北米基準としてはとても小さいキッチンですが、とても気に入っています。

This is such a tiny kitchen for north american standard, but it's my dream kitchen! love it!

そして家中の窓。古びたアルミのフレームで、ハンドルをまわして３枚の窓を上に跳ね上げて開けるタイプのもの。リビングルームの大きな窓にはずいぶん前に木のフレームを付けたのですが、

Our windows were all old and dark coloured aluminum frames which open 3 panels upward with spinning handles. We have already attached wooden frames around some windows before...

今回、そのアルミの部分を全部白くぬって、木で真ん中にサン作り、を取り付けて、６枚ガラスの窓の様にしました。

but I decided to go further more. Painted those aluminum parts with white paint and made faux middle parts of frame by wooden pieces. And attached them like this to make windows like 6 sections of glasses.

窓がちょっと変わっただけで、雰囲気がガラっと変わったと思います。これには私、大はしゃぎです（笑）。窓を全部付け替えたら一体いくらかかるでしょう？小さいペンキ１缶と、木切れだけでカントリーコテージの雰囲気を手に入れらんだからもう！（笑）。

Such a small treatment make the room big deference! I'm oh! so excited about. I can't imagine how much could have it cost if we replaced all windows to new ones. Instead of it we spent only for a small can of white paint and free small pieces of wood. And got a great effect of country cottage atmosphere! Yay! lol. 

まだバスルームとベッドルームと外側の改装が手つかずのまま。後どれぐらい掛かるのか(時間もお金も！）想像もつきません、やれやれ。まぁ、今はこれが私達の趣味なので、楽しむ事にします。

We still have a bath room, a bed room, and outside to go.  Sigh...  I don't know how long it takes to get all done. However, it is like our hobby now, lol. So we will just enjoy it as much as our wallet allows.

姪っ子１歳のお誕生日パーティー。My niece's 1st birthday part

とんでもない暑さは過ぎ、かなり過ごしやすくなりましたが、依然雨が降りません。水不足なので、芝生の水まきは禁止になってしまいました。レインクーバーの異名が泣きます。

It seems like that extreme heat wave was gone and now a bit milder and easy. However, we still have way lack of rainfall so we have no enough water for grasses. It's brown everywhere :(  Where is our RAINCOUVER?

それはさておき、今日は私達の４回目の結婚記念日です。４年なんてあっという間ですね。私達の暮らしもだんだんと思い描いた通りの形になってきました。それもひとえに旦那様の御陰だと思っています。

とにかく、７月は結婚記念日の他に、私達２人のお誕生日があり、去年生まれた姪っ子も私と２日違いだし、イベント盛りだくさんです。結婚が６月か８月にすれば良かったなぁと思ってますが（笑）。

Well, today is our 4th wedding anniversary. Time flushes by, but our life is getting improving the way we have dreamt about. I think it's because of my husband who is capable to make like that. I really appreciate it. 

We have many of our important anniversaries in July such as Wedding anniv, birthdays of both of us, and new one was added last year which is our niece's BD just 2 day part form mine. I thought that we should have gotten married in June or August though. lol.

さて、その姪っ子ちゃんの１回目のお誕生日パーティーの様子。おもしろ可愛いLちゃん、あと言う間の１年です。皆の愛情に包まれて、益々幸せに育って欲しいです。

Then, my niece, L's first BD party was held by her parents.  I always wish to my funny, and lovely L, for her happiness forever. 

姪っ子の両方のグランドペアレンツと叔父、叔母、いとこ、全部集合！とっても国際的な集まりで、弟妻の兄家族と私の両親、私達はカナダ国内から、弟妻の姉家族は香港から、弟妻の両親は日本経由だけどオリジンはベトナムから。家の夫（ちょっとオランダ系カナダ人、笑）と弟妻姉の夫（香港人）意外は日本人ですが、６人の子供達の内、４人はここ生まれなのでカナダ人、１人は香港生まれ（二重国籍）です。まぁ、ここではこんなの当たり前ですが、日本人としては客観的に見るとなかなか面白い事実です。とにかく、皆が遥々やって来て楽しい時間を共に過ごせた事はとても幸せな事だと思います。世界が平和じゃないと出来ない事なのでね。ありがたいです。

Both sides of her grand parents, all uncles and aunts, and cousins got together! We are international family that my parents, my brother's, my brother's wife's brother's were from here in Canada, my brother's wife's parents were from Vietnam via Japan this time, and her sister's were from Hong Kong. 

Most of us are Japanese except 2 husbands who are a HongKong and a Dutch Canadian, but children are Japanese Canadians and a Japanese Hong Kong (Double nationalities). That thing is common in Canada, but for Japanese, that is an interesting fact, I guess. 

Anyways, my point is that we shouldn't take it for grant. We could get together form everywhere and had a wonderful time like that is because of our world is peaceful. Very grateful!

義理妹がほぼ全部を一人作った様で感心！どれも美味しかったです。

My sister-in-law cooked almost all by herself and fed us all! impressive and so yummy!

またもや熊さん登場。お祝いにきてくれたのかな？写真では分かりにくいですが、今度のはとーっても大きい熊で、大迫力でした。

Even bear showed up again to celebrate L's BD? lol. That one was so big we haven't ever seen.

そして我が夫の余興。巨大シャボン玉大会（笑）実は私がやりたいと言い出して、お誕生にこの道具を作ってくれました（子供かっ！）。そして初めてのお試し。

My husband entertained people with his hand made giant bubbles. Actually I wanted to do that so he made it for my BD gift. lol. That was our first attempt with it.

シャボン玉液がちょっと重たすぎたのか、滞空時間が短いのが改良点ですが、なかなか上手く行きました。皆大喜び。

The formula was a bit too heavy to keep bubbles enough long in the air.  And we could improve it but the most of them are quite good.

For a future reference, our formula of giant bubble that day was,

6 cups Water

1/2 cup Dish Soap

1/2 cup Cornstarch

1 TBSP Baking Powder

1 TBSP Glycerin

私のお誕生日。My birthday.

７月１５日は私のお誕生日でした。夫から頂いたお花。

July 15th was my birthday. This was from my husband.

そして、朝起きて庭に出てみると、私の自転車に籐のかごが付けられていました。なかなか粋なプレセントの仕方。夫、やるなぁ（笑）。

And I wake up and got out to the yard then I found a basket attached to my bike! It was also the BD gift from my husband. It was nice idea, hubby!

こちらはお友達に頂いたバースデードーナッツ（笑）バンクーバーのメインストリートにあるカッコいいドーナツ屋さん。カーテムス。材料はローカルの出来る限りオーガニックで、作り置き冷凍なしだそう。

My friend bought me some doughnuts from Cartems for my birthday gift. It was very fashionable doughnuts shop on Main Street Vancouver. I learned that that shop is very careful with using good, mostly organic and local ingredients, and make them freshly. 

特筆すべきは右端上のウィスキー、ベーコンドーナツでしょうか。日本人には馴染みのない取り合わせですが、意外な美味しさです。私はその下のアールグレーとシンプルなシナモンシュガーの付いた左端上のが好きでしたが、甲乙つけがたく全部美味しかった！

What I should write about first is a bacon wispy doughnut, upper right. It would be not familiar combination on ingredients for doughnut for Japanese people but it was actually good! I personally liked a Earl grey tea one, on the bottom right, and a simple cinnamon one, on the upper left. However, actually it's difficult to say because everything was so good! 

そこに置いてあるアーネストの抹茶アイスクリームも買って頂いちゃった！抹茶の香りが濃厚でとても美味しいんです。今まで食べた中でも一番レベルの、添加物なしの本物の味わいです。

And she also bought me this, well, for us, because Matcha flavour is my husband favourite,  Earnest matcha ice cream there. I think it was one of the best Matcha ice cream ever I have. Definitely the best in Canada for me.

さて、バースディーディナーは、ポートムーディーのホートハウスレストランへ夫に連れて行って頂きました。とーっても景色がいいんです。

Well, my birthday dinner was at Boat house restaurant in Port Moody.  It was nice location. 

上の桟橋から見ると、カナダ国旗の右側に見える建物がレストランです。

From the pier, the building right hand of the flag was the restaurant.

パティオのテーブルをゲット！良い感じです。

We got a nice patio table! View form there was amazing.

We ordered some prawns for a appetizer,

シーフードのアントレーと、

Mix seafood grill for an entree,

蟹とロブスターが詰まったラビオリをシェアーしました。

And crab and lobster stuffed raviolis to share. 

夕方の海は美しい。今年も良い誕生日を迎えられて心から感謝しました。

健康で、クリエイティブで、面白い一年を重ねて行きたいと思います。

Evening ocean view was fantastic! I was really thankful that I was able to have my happy birthday again in this year too. I'm going to have another healthy, creative, and enjoyable year.

野生動物との遭遇。夫の誕生日。流し素麺。Wild animal encounter. My husband BD. Noodle stream.

極端に暑く、雨の振らない日が続きます。そのせいで、私の住む西海岸のBC州では現在180もの山火事が発生。煙はメトロバンクーバーの町も多い、匂いまでします。そろそろ雨が欲しい所です。

It's been extremely hot and dry for a while here in BC, so we have gotten 180 wildfires alone in BC due to this climate. Sky is hazy by smoke and I can smell it too. We desperate for rain fall. 

さて、週末の出来事を金曜日から行きます。月が奇麗なので、一眼レフで写真を取り行きたいと言う夫と、月が昇る１０時過ぎに川へ。まずは夕焼けの最後を見て、

Well,  here, talk about happenings in the weekend. 

My husband insisted to go for taking picture of the moon in Friday night, so we went to the bridge and took a picture of sunset first. It was around 10.

橋の上からは木が邪魔で、地平線から顔を出したての大きな月が見えないと分かったので、他の場所へ移動して、この写真をとりました。オレンジ色の大きな月でした。

It turned out that we wouldn't be able to see the moon there because of trees so we moved place. And the moon rose as a huge orange moon. He took this picture with his SLR camera. 

お家に帰ってから夜中のデザート。自作の抹茶小寒天。そう、寒天だから遅くても良い事にします。

Then we went back home and had midnight dessert. I made this with agar, instead of gelatine, and matcha, and azuki beans. Should I feel guilty but it was okay because of agar which has no calorie? lol

そして土曜日の夕方は、翌日がお誕生日夫のお祝いで、いつもの川の本流際にあるパブ、メープルリッジのキングフィッシャーへ。フェリーがあった頃は、フォートラングレーからはごく近所だったはずですが、今は大きな橋が出来てフェリーが無くなったので、大回りで３０分。早く行ったので、パティオの良い席をゲット！今年も一緒に祝えて幸せです。

In Saturday evening, we went to Kingfisher pub, where was my husband favourite in Maple ridge, the other side of main stream of Fraser river. It was for my husband's birthday celebration. Since the ferry across the river was gone we had to go around to take a new bridge to go there.  Anyways, we got a perfect table on the patio. I was a lucky girl to be able to celebrate this wonderful man's BD in this year again. 

そして目の前の川に、シャケを負って来たアザラシ君発見！ラッキーです。

Another luckiness happened! We saw a seal who came long way chasing salmons to the river, right in front of us. 

一旦お家に帰ってから、近所のトレイルを自転車で走りに行く事に。

After that we went back to home once and headed to nearby river trail for biking. 

まだ書いてなかったけど、先日中古の自転車をゲットしたんです。私のはこれ。

I haven't talked about it yet but we have gotten second-hand bikes on craigslist the other day. Mine is like this!

We encountered this guy, an owl!!

近くまで歩いていっても逃げません。じーっと見下ろされてます。そのお顔はどこか懐かしい。あ、そうだ私の猫ちゃんにそっくり（笑）彼の生まれ変わりかしら。素敵な出会いでした。

It seemed not intimidated by us at all and staring at us. I felt that its face was familiar to me so I thought that if my beloved cat was reincarnated in it. lol. It was so wonderful!

そしてトレイルの突き当たりはなんとも美しい場所。楽しいバイクライディングででした。

And the end of the tail was magnificent. It was a great bike riding.

さて、日曜日。弟の家へ。車で３０分。

On Sunday, we visited my brother's where 30min drive from us.

彼手作りのプールです。甥っ子はシュノーケリングに夢中（笑）

His hand made swimming pool. My nephew was crazy about snorkelling. lol.

そしてメインイベントの流し素麺。

And the mine invent was this, Nagashi-somen, which was Japanese summer fun cuisine, say like noodle stream?? lol

事前に夫にはレクチャー済み。事情は理解してもなんとなくピンと来ていなかった様子ですが、すぐ夢中に！（笑）。楽しいし、美味しいし、涼しいし、彼はまたまた一歩、日本文化ファンに近づきました（笑）

I lectured my husband what and how before hand and he understood but not really made sense. However, as soon as we started it he got into it! It was fun, yummy, and good way to cool down. He has became one step closer to a Japanese culture expert!? lol

そしてなんと、熊さん登場！

And  a bear showed up! 

この距離感。でももう慣れっこな甥はチラッと見ただけ。もちろん近づき過ぎたら要注意ですが、熊の方も私達には全く感心んを示しません。義理妹曰く、グーガー（アメリカライオン）が出たらアニマルコントロールに通報するかもだけど、熊はいいや、だそうです。

Look at this distance. My nephew just glanced at it because he totally got used to it. If the encounter was too close, of course you had to be careful though but a bear wasn't even care of us. My sister-in-law said that a bear was okay but if it was a cougar she must call an animal control.

あれ、また野生動物か！？

Oh? another wild animal!?

いや、この方でした。野生児（笑）

Well, it was her, a wild kid. lol
