立春を迎えて、オフィシャルに春になりましたね。
春らしいピンクのチューリップを飾り、上機嫌ですよ。
It's officially spring! So I display very spring-like pink tulips and I feel so good!
前に書いた様に、去年の４月に水栽培から始めて３個芽が出たうち、育ったのが一個だけ．．．
As I wrote about it before, I attempted to sprout avocado pits last April, and 3 of them sprouted but only on survived...
そのアボカド君、現在元気に生育中。なぜか葉っぱ一前だけ巨大になりました。
春だからですかね。
Here it is! THE avocado has grown bigger like this. Look at one leaf! it's huge now because it's spring?
そしてこれは知らなかった！柊ってこんなに可愛い花が咲くんですね〜。赤い実は有名ですけどね〜。ちょっと驚きの感動でした。
And I didn't know that holly produces such pretty flowers, not only red berries in the winter.
これは近所の素敵な黄色いお家とその前の立派なコブシの花です。
何度も言っちゃうけど、春ですね〜。実は桜も満開です。
There is pretty yellow house close to mine and a magnolia blossoms are out there. Again, it's spring! lol. Actually, cherry blossoms are everywhere too.

これは木曜日の夕食。毎日外食している訳じゃありませんよ！たまたま何だか慌ただしかったので。韓国系のお寿司屋にて。私の住む町には大量に寿司屋あれど、日本人経営の店は皆無だと思います。なんで？私がやろうかな！！（笑）。
This is from Thursday dinner at a local Korean sushi shop. We are not dinning out all the time but the day was a bit hectic. There are so many sushi shops in Greater Vancouver but no sushi shops is owned by Japanese in our area. Should I open my sushi shop then? lol.
と言う事で、北米特有のロールです。悪くはないけどね。これはワシントンロール。
That was typical north american sushi roll called Washington roll. It wasn't too bad though.
巨大なうどん。揚げた鶏肉が入っていて、変わったトッピングです。まぁ、普通に頂けます。
And an Udon bowl was huge! with fried chicken and veggie topping. It was different but not too bad either.

さて、メインイベントその一は、金曜日の夜の、友人宅でのガールズナイト。彼女はノースバンクーバーに住んでいて、私の住む、国境近くの町からは程遠いのですが、そんな理由で友達の誘いを断ってばかりじゃ忘れられちゃう！っと言う事で、車なしの私、根性を出して行ってきました。ちょとした旅行気分で。
Well, my main event in the weekend was a girls night held by my girl friend who live in North Vancouver. My place is far ways for hers but I couldn't miss it just for such a reason. I don't want to lose my friends! So I took kind a great effort to go there by public transportation. It was like a small trip.
家の前から小さなコニュニティーバスの乗る事２０分。同じ市内、ラングレーの大きなバスエクスチャンジに付きます。雪をかぶった山が奇麗。乗り継ぎが上手く行って、すぐの次の高速バスへ。
I got a small community bus from right in front of my place fro 20 min to Carvolth exchange, Langley. Mountains top was still covered by snow and they were beautiful.
トランスカナダ、ナンバー１ハイウエーを１７分程走り、バーナビー氏の北にあるローヒードセンターモール駅に付きます。世界一幅の広いポートマンブリッジを渡る所の景色。巨大なフレーザー川です。
And then transferred a hight way express bus, took 17 min to Lougheed mall centre station in North Burnaby. A picture was form the bus on Port mann bridge across mighty Fraser river.
ローヒード駅でスカイトレインを待ちます。バンクーバーのダウンタウン内だけでこの電車に人は、何でスカイトレイン？地下鉄でしょ？って思うらしいけど。この辺りではモノレールの様に高い所を走ります。終点のウォーターフロント駅まで３５分くらい。
At Lougheed station waiting for a Sky train. People use Sky train only inside Vancouver downtown often say that it's subway, why it's called SKY train but you would know if you ride it form this area. Most of rail road is elevated.
そこで海を行くシーバスという船の乗り換えて１５分。
I rid a train from beginning to the end about 35 min and finally reached Waterfront station. And then got a sea bus there for 15 minuets ride to North Vancouver.
対岸のノースバンクーバー、ロンズデールキーに到着。夕方の海の向こうにバンクーバーダウンタウンのシルエットがカッコいいです。大好きな町！大学はこの町にあって、４年以上も通ったので、懐かしい場所でもあります。
This pic was from Lonsdale quay. Evening light and Vancouver skyscraper silhouette over the sea were beautiful. North Vancouver is my favourite place where I commuted for more than 4 years for university.
友人宅は船着き場からすぐの素敵なコンドミニアムの一室。海が見える部屋です。
My friend places was in a pretty condominium where has a ocean view close to Lonsdale quay.
冷たいプロセッコでスタート。
Started with cold prosecco.
彼女はとってもお料理上手。すべて一人で用意してくれました。
アペタイザーの数々。
She was an amazing cook. All dishes were by her hand. Some appetizers...
そしてメインのポークローストとコブサラダ。もう全て美味しくて大満足でした。
デザートも出してくれたのに、一旦食べ始めちゃうといつものダメブロガーの性ですっかり写真を忘れて夢中で食べちゃいます。
And main dish, roasted pork and a cobb salad. She offered house made dessert too but as you know, when the food is so good, I tend to forget taking pictures. So no pics of food anymore.
その後はドローイングゲームやガールズナイトならでのおしゃべりに花が咲き．．．
ホストのYの絵が、なかなか強烈でいい味出しているので（笑）シェアーしますね。マリリンモンローです（爆）。ちなみに左横の小さいのはおばちゃんのお買い物です。ていうか、小さな男の子と三輪車にしか見えないんですがね．．．
We had a long nice chat and a drawing game after dinner. I would share this tasty (funny) drawing form the host girl, Y who was supposed to draw Marilyn Monroe. Lol. BYW, on the left hand, a small drawing looks like a small boy on a tricycle was actually an old house wife who's going to grocery shopping. Lol.

日曜日の事。メインイベント２は父の誕生日ランチ。実際の父の誕生日は２月末なのですが、弟がインフルエンザでディナーの予定が流れてしまったので、ちょっと決まりの悪い彼があたらめてアレンジしました。
Main event 2 was on Sunday, my dad's birthday lunch. His birthday was actually the end of Feb but my brother got flu at that time so we canceled family dinner. My brother was a bit guilty so he re-arranged family lunch on Sunday.
新しく出来たデパート、アメリカのNordstrom の中のBistro Vredeです。私はこのデパートすらまだゆっくりは見ていなかったので、早く行って春ものの服でも探そうと思ったのですが、とてもハイエンドで何でもお高い事！何も買わずにランチへ。（店内の写真はお借りしました）
That was at Bistro Vrede in a new department store, Nordstrom. I haven't taken a look inside of the store well yet since then so my husband and I went there earlier for shopping some clothes. But it turned out that it's so high end! everything was so expensive! We didn't buy anything there.

お料理の評判が良かったので、楽しみにしていました。広くて、明るくて、都会的な景色も奇麗で気に入りました。何て事は無い家族のランチですが、父は大満足の様子だったし、こうして外国に住みながらも家族が気軽に集れる幸運を喜びました。
I was looking forward a lunch there because of their good reputations. The restaurant was big and bright, and urban views from big windows were also nice. I liked that! And more importantly, our dad enjoyed it so much and I appreciated that our family can get together anytime we want despite of living in a foreign country. So lucky.
期待のお料理は、ターキークラブサンドとチキンのエンジェルヘアーパスタを夫とシェアー。とっても美味しかったです。メニューにカロリーが書いてあるのでちょっとビビッった．．．だってサンドイッチなんて１１５０カロリーですよ！
My hubby and I shared a turkey clubhouse sandwich and a chicken angel hair pasta. They were so good, but according to menu, calories of sandwich was 1150 cal!
この後は家族と別れ、ちょと仕事の打ち合わせや、お買い物に費やしました。
We spent time for mainly shopping after that.
夕方になってまたノースバンクーバーへ。今度は夫と一緒に車で、なので、ライオンズケートを渡ります。カールズナイトのホストの彼女へお届けものです。
and heading north shore again in the evening by car this time, to deliver stuff to the host girl of that girls night.
彼女を待つ間に、シップヤードの割と最近出来た大きなパブレストラン、TAP & Barrelで軽くディナーをしました。この日はなんだか食べっぱなしの気分です。
造船所の建物を改装して作られたこのパブはとても天井が高くて長いんです。突き当たりの大きな窓の目の前は海です。奥に名前の通り、沢山のバーレルが（ワインのタル）が、積まれています。（写真は夫がパノラマモードで撮りました）
While we were waiting for her, we had diner at TAP & Barrel at shipyard. It was cool building used to be dockyard, so long and high. A huge window faced to ocean, and barrels were stacking.
反対側の端にはタップ、色とりどりのビールのケグが積まれています。
Beer kegs were stacking the other side.
オーダーしたお料理はお刺身サラダとキノコのマック＆チーズ。美味しかったです。ここで、お友達がジョインして、後で彼女の家へ、オーダーして頂いた、私達手作りのプラントハンガーをお届けしました。とっても喜んでくれて嬉しかったです。最近作ったものはまとめて次のエントリーでご紹介します。この週末も充実していました！
We ordered a Sashimi salad and a wild mushroom mac and cheese. They were good. An then the friend joined us there and we went to her place to deliver commission plant hanger which my husband and I made for her. She loved it and we were happy about it. I will introduce all things I made lately, include that plant hanger on next entry. Another solid weekend!
