Valentine's day activities バレンタインズデーにした事

今日のフレイザーリバー。よいお天気の日曜日。もう本当に春なのかしら。カヌーで漕ぎ出す人たち。

Today's Fraser river. It's a sunny Sunday, feels like real spring. People start to row canoes.

橋の反対側では鳥さんたちがスイスイと。遠くて何の種類かはわかりません。

Birds are swimming the other side of the bridge. It's too far to recognize what kind of bird.

さて、土曜日はバレテンタインズデーでしたね。金曜日の夜にディナーの予約があったので、（人気の地元レストランは一週間前でもう土曜日の予約は一杯）、日中に買い物をして、レアチーズケーキを作りました。オーガニックのフレッシュラズベリーも手に入ったので、ラズベリーピューレも作りました。夫は花とチョコレートを持って帰ってくてくれたんだけど、花を差し出しながら、「これ変だよね？造花？」って言うんです（笑）。私にしてみれば一目瞭然なんだけど、彼曰く、花やで水に挿してあったそうで、奇麗だし、気がつかなかったとか。その花屋も変だよね。まぁ、気持ちが嬉しいので問題ないですがね。何だか面白いなと。

It was a Valentine's day weekend. We had a dinner reservation at a popular restaurant in Langley on Friday night.  (we couldn't make it on Saturday even It was a week ago we called. ) So I made a cheese cake for my husband while he was working, and he come back with a bunch of (Faux!) roses and nice chocolates. It was so obvious to me but he asked me if they were fake flowers. Because he picked them up from water at the flower shop he wasn't sure. That's funny story to me! lol and what a weird flower shop. Anyways, I was still so happy what he had done to me.

ディナーはお気に入りのここ。Langleyのインダストリアルな場所にありながら、バンクーバーのダウンタウンでも良い線行きそうなレストランだと思う。

Here, The fat cow and oyster bar, where is our favourite. Despite that the restaurant is in a shabby industrial area of Langley, "it could be also popular in downtown Vancouver" quality.  So good!

今回は初めてこの２人前のシーフードのプレートをオーダー。殻付きの蟹が沢山入っているので、なんとも無口なバレンタインディナーでした。美味しかったけどね、手がベタベタ。

Because we had that seafood platter for 2 which included a lot of crabs with shell and a bit of lobster too, we were almost mute. And I have a problem with sticky, duty hands always but it was so delicious anyway. 

さて、翌日、バレンタイン本番の土曜日。バンクーバーダウンタウンに住む両親を訪ねました。夫は今年に入ってまだ一度も彼らに会っていなかったし、母が足を怪我しているので、バレンタインとお見舞いもかねて。Fort Langleyの新しいカフェ、Blacksmith bakeryで素敵なケーキをいくつか買って、一緒に食べようと言う企画で。写真はお借りしました。このカフェのケーキは本当に美味しい！日本人好みな味です。両親も美味しい美味しいとペロっと食べてしまいました。良かった。

その後はライトを探しに、South Granville を歩き回り。

On next day, the actual Valentine's day,  we went to visit my parents in Vancouver.  Since my mom has been having her ankle fracture, we went there for saying "get well soon" as well as a Valentine's greeting. And also my husband saw them first time in this year so for him "Happy new year!". We got some beautiful cakes from Black smith bakery cafe in For Langley (I borrow the photo)  for us to have tea together at parents'. The cakes were so good which even my dad could eat a lot (he doesn't have so much sweets usually). The cafe's taste is suitable to Japanese tongue.

After we leave my parents' we went to South Granville to look for some light fixtures.

でも戦利品は、Pottery Barnで小さなデザートプレートと、West elm Marketで琺瑯の計量カップでした。良い感じです。

However, what we got were some small dessert plats from Pottery Barn, and enamel measuring cups from West elm Market. Love them!

そして、これは夫に作ってもらった私のおもちゃ箱（笑）。L字型のデスイクの下の角に追加の収納場所。上にはプリンターが乗る予定。キャスター付きです。

And this, a toy box ? lol. My hubby made it for me. This would be an extra storage, stays under and a corner of my office L shape desk. A printer is going to be sat on it. It's mobile with casters at the bottom. 

Happiness is such a thing. 幸せって案外こんな事 / Is curly hair sign of aging? カーリーヘアーは年のせい？

さて、とりとめのない話。

週末の朝のラテは、近所のコーヒー／チョコレートショップのEuphoriaで。良い名前ですね。

A cup of cafe late at a neighbour coffee/chocolate shop called Euphoria. Good name!

ランチは近所のランプライターでサンドイッチ。シンプルでとっても美味しい！お家改装中なので、外で、という言い訳です。

Lunch at Lamp lighter, another neighbourhood restaurant. The sandwich was simple and very delicious. "because of the renovation!" is our excuse to dine out often.

週末に、出来心で肉を買ってしまった！普段はわりとベジタリアンなんですがね。

昨日の夕食になりました。骨付きポークのロースト、シランントロ（パクチー）、クミン、レモン、ガーリック味。付け合わせはローズマリーポテトと芽キャベツのパルメザンチースロースト。かなり美味しかった！この家では初めてオーブンを使いました。上手く動いた！幸せ。

We got a chunk of pork impulsively in the weekend. We usually almost vegetarian though. It became our dinner last night. Roasted lack of pork with cilantro, cumin, lemon and garlic. Garnish was rosemary potatoes and roasted parmesan brussels sprouts. It was very delicious! I used the oven first time in this house since we moved in. It worked nicely. What a relief. I'm happy.

夫がついにキッチンキャビネットや引き出しに取っ手を付けてくれました。しばらくは取取っ手なしで使っていてもう面等臭いったらありゃしない。真ん中をあけるのには下から順番に開けて行かなくてはならなかったので。取っ手が付いた日には、開けたい所をすっと開けられて、ああ、なんて簡単で幸せなの！！と心から思いました（笑）。大げさに聞こえるだろうけど、オーブンにしろ、取っ手にしろ、幸せって案外そんな単純なもなのかもしれませんね。

My hubby attached handles to new kitchen cabinets and drawers. I had to used them without handles and knobs for a while and it was pain in the neck! Can you imagine how to open a middle drawer? Open bottom one first and a second bottom and finally third one... When the handles were attached and I managed to open where I exactly aimed to open, I was ecstatic!! lol. It might sound ridiculous but you know what? a happiness is a such a thing, I guess. 

最近私の髪の毛はとてもカーリー。殆どお姫様カール。もともとくせ毛なのですが、それが益々強くなってこんな感じに。先日久しぶりにお友達の美容室に行って、髪をカットしてもらったとき、彼女にそう言うと、「ああ、年をとるとね〜．．．」と！何とも衝撃的なお言葉（笑）。まっすぐな髪は、まんまるな断面で、カーリーヘアーは楕円形の断面。皮膚が弾力を失い、垂れ下がったくると、必然的に毛穴は縦長になりますよね。お顔の毛穴が目立ってくる大きな原因もこれ。そして、楕円形の毛穴はカーリーヘアーを作り出すと。なるほど、利にかなってますね、納得。ま、生きていれば老化は止められない訳で、私は文句を言わずに、意外とお手入れが簡単なお姫様カールを楽しむ事とします。

何でも幸せだと思った者が勝ち。余談ですが、最近まつげもカーリー。あ、アルガンオイルを毎晩まつげに塗ると伸びますよ。カールは主に寝癖だと思うのですが、パーマネントな寝癖（笑）。

My hair is getting more curlier recently. It is kind like a princess' way? lol. When I went to my friend's hair salon the other day, I told her so. According to her,  it's likely to be one of aging processes  (OMG!). A cross section of straight hair is round and curly hair's is oval. When your skin starts sagging your pores are stretched together then become oval shape. Guess what happened to your hair? That make sense, right? Well, no one can stop aging so I am going to accept it and am going to even enjoy my princess curly hair! By the way, my eyelashes are becoming to curly too. I think it's mainly due to the way I sleep though but it has become permanent. If you want to make your eyelashes longer, apply argan oil before you go to bed. I't woks. 

Anyways, my point is that life is easier if you appreciate and enjoy every small incidents happen to you. I'm happy. My life is good.

Today's Fraser river. It's 4 o'clock on Tuesday, temperature is 12. It's so warm for February. 

I am attracted to the tiny church on the other side of the river bank.

さて、土曜日に、弟の個展のオープニングレセプションに行ってきました。

We went to my brother's art exhibition opening reception on Saturday.

自分もアーティストの端くれとして客観的にみると、なかなか洗練されていて、ハイエンドな感じの力品だと思いました。姉としては、彼がアートを始めた頃のジャンクアートから見ているので、なかなか感慨深い物がありましたね。以前彼は一度、「姉貴に触発されてアートの道に入った．．．」と言っていた様に思うのですが、今やアートィストとしては彼の方が先輩です。実はアートスクールを出たばっかりで、まだあまり露出していない私の方がアーティストとしては駆け出しと言う事です。以前は、というか本業はグラフィックデザイナーです。

If I make a comment as an artist myself too,  It was very sophisticated, high-end looking and yet powerful pieces which I was impressed by.  As a sister who has been seeing his growth as a artist (as a man as well? lol)  it was very interesting. I still remember his early junky pieces. He is now my senior artist since I was just finish art school and haven't been exposed so much yet. I should say, well... I respect him as as ARTIST! lol. That's true. I actually was, well still is a graphic designer as well. 

しかし弟は、すばらしい女性と結婚する運に恵まれ、ビジネスパートナーとしての彼女の才能を借りて成長を続けているようです。アーティストとしての成功は、ただ良い物作りができるだけじゃだめですからね。幸せな男です。もちろん、彼に才能があった上での話ですが。

However, he has gotten a luck to married to a fabulous woman who is also his business partner. Her talent raises him up to more than he could be, I guess. Successful artists need such things besides their own talents. Off course the talent comes first though. 

ギャラリーも素敵な場所で、オーナーで写真家のY.O氏に、「私もいつかここで個展をしたいです！」なんて言って来てしまいました（笑）。良い刺激にあふれている場所に行くのは良い物です。なんでもモチベーションにしてしまえば良い。

The gallery is also very pretty place where makes me wanting to have my own exhibition someday. I actually told so to Mis Y.O, the gallery owner and she encouraged me to do so :) Everything can be my motivations.

余談ですが、展示会場では、ご無沙汰してしまったお友達にも再会でき嬉しかったです。そして、帰りにはお友達を夕食を一緒に。バーナビーの大量市場へ。ネタが新鮮で美味しかった！バンクーバーの魅力ひとつは新鮮な食材と質の高いレストランの数々。そのなかでも和食文化はもうすっかり街の一部です。

It was nice to see many friends there at a reception and some of them were who I hadn't seen for a long time. We went for dinner to Tairyo ichiba in Burnaby with some of them after that. All fish was so fresh and delicious. One thing of lots of goodnesses of metro Vancouver is a quality of food. Japanese cuisine has already been a part of a culture of this city. Everybody loves Japanese food!

今日のフレイザーリバー。とっても風の強い雨まじりの金曜日の午後。

Today's Fraser river. Very windy and rainy Friday afternoon.

昨日は地元のお友達と、朝のコーヒーと飲茶ランチに行ってきました。バスで１０分くらいの所まで出て、そこでお友達に拾ってもらって、他の２人が待つスタバへ。このお二人とは初対面でした。私以外の３人は、子供が日本語学校に行っている間の一息。

I went for coffee and lunch with my friend yesterday.  She picked me up at the mall where 10 minutes bus ride from mine. And we went to Starbucks where other 2 were waiting for us. Actually. I met them the first time. They are Mom friends for each other and having coffee together while their children went to the same Japanese language school. 

日本人が少ない町で、近所日本人友を作るのはとても難しいと思っていました。が、ある日、近所のオーガニックスーパーマーケットで日本語の会話を聞いた夫と私。見てみると、素敵な女性が小さな女の子の手を引いてお買い物中。夫は、私を日本人の友人達の居る住み慣れたバンクーバーダウンタウンから連れて来た事に多少悪気を感じていたので、自らその小さな女の子に話しかけようとしてくれました。それは良いのですが、「CUTEって日本語で、『オイシイ』だっだっけ？」と話しかける寸前に私に確認。「ちょっ！待ってよ！「可愛い」だから！美味しいじゃないから！」って慌てて訂正。それがとにかくきっかけになって、その場でお友達になって頂いた、という経緯があります。もし知らないおじちゃんに、「オイシイ〜！」って言われたらさぞ怖かったことでしょう（笑）。

私たちの家がとても近い事が判明し、今は私の引っ越しで少しは遠くなったけどそれでもまだ同じ市内だし、彼女にはとても仲良くして頂いてます。子供の幼稚園なのどのママ友つながりで、日本人のお友達をどんどん開発中の彼女は皆を私にも紹介してくれます。本当にありがたいの。彼女を引き寄せた自分の運の強さに大喜びですよ。そんなこんなで、なかなか楽しいネットワークを構築中。ラングレーも捨てたもんじゃないね。

At first I thought it was almost impossible to find any Japanese friends here because it was not Vancouver! lol. However, My husband and I heard a Japanese conversation at near organic supermarket the other day. It was a nice young woman shopping with her little daughter. Since my husband felt a bit guilty because he brought me form Vancouver downtown where all my friends were, to a rural. And then he tried to get their attention for me. He was about to tell her little daughter "Oishii" which is "delicious" instead of "Kawaii" "Cute" in English. It was funny but anyway worked to make us friends since then. She has a good network here in Langley for making Japanese friends via children's school activities, and she always introduce me to her new friends. I'm so lucky to encounter her that day and I appreciate her friend ship for me. Life in Langley is no too bad end up.

さて今日に話に戻って。夕食のパンとお気に入りのコーヒを買いに行きました。これ、Republica のDark Angel. ダークローストなのだけどもまろやかで、個人的にはラテを作るのにピッタリだと思ってます。

Well, get the story back to today. I went to grocery shopping and a coffee shop very close to mine for my favourite coffee beans. It's call "Dark Angel" from Republica. It is dark roast yet smooth which is perfect to make latte for me.

お借りした写真。お店の中。Fort Langley のダウンタウンにあります。実は日本人の方がオーナー。ここで焙煎していて、お店中の香ばしいコーヒーの香りが立ちこめて幸せな気分になります。コーヒー豆はオーガニック。しばらく前からファンだったのですが、まさかこんなに近くに引っ越してこれるなんてラッキー！

I borrowed the picture but this is inside the shop. Actually I have been a fan of this excellent organic coffee roaster for a while. The shop was filled with fascinating coffee aroma and it made me happy. The owner of this roaster is Japanese, by the way.  I am lucky to move into this neighbourhood.

Rainy day, tiny progression of renovation

今日も雨。という事で、お外の写真はなし。一歩も外へ出ていません。

It's raining again so no pictures taken from outside. I haven't gone out at all.

昨日、夫が私のオフィスにバケツのオーガナイザー（？）を取り付けてくれた。なかなか可愛いよ。IKEAですがね。

My husband attached those buckets organizers (?) for me to my office wall. They are from IKEA but aren't they cute?  

昨日の続き。リモデルしてた廊下のコート／シュークローゼット。下の靴入れの部分も出来上がりました。一段づつ引き出せる様になっています。我が夫が本当に出来る人でありがたい！本業をこなしつつの夜と週末のみの作業なので、進行はゆっくりですが、外注しないで出来るって言うのが本当に良い！どれだけお金がセーブできる事だろう。感謝しますよ〜。

Continuance from yesterday...reforming the coat/shoe closet at the hallway. We are finished the bottom part for shoes. My husband is so handy and I appreciate it! We can save a lot of money without using any contractors and carpenters. He even came up with the idea that making those shelves slidable like drawers. This way is easier to reach any shoes deep inside. 

昨日、もとクローゼットがあったオフィス内側の写真は載せて、ビフォーを忘れたので、こんなんです。色が違うだけでも大違い！白いキャビネットは実は子供部屋用のIKEA。

小さいスペースにぴったりです。小さいけれど充実した、使い勝手の良いオフィスがちゃくちゃくと出来上がりに向かっています。でもまた、棚と、一部のストレージと、ライトと天井と、クラウンモールディングと、窓のブラインド！やれやれ、こんなに小さいスペースでもやる事が一杯。でも妥協したくないのです。

I forgot to post a photo of "before and after" of where the closet is used to be. Fresh new white paint make everything deferent. A white cabinet is actually for children's room from IKEA again. It is good size for my tiny office. I already love my office even it is still long way to go. I need another box storage under the desk, shelvings, putting right fixtures, ceiling panels, crown mouldings and a wind treatment! Such a small space need a lot!! I don't want to compromise to much.

Weekend, house renovation

金曜日に夫が花を持って帰って来てくれました。この家に引っ越して初めての花。

花のある生活はいいですね、例えそれが改装中のカオスの中であっても．．．

My hubby came back with flowers on Friday. The life with flower make you feel richer (not financially though) although it is in house renovation chaos.

この週末はとにかくお家の改装をできるだけ進めたくて躍起になっていました。

私の仕事は、このビードボードを白く塗る事。これを後から天井に貼付けます。この溝まできちんと塗るのが結構大変！

This weekend is all about house renovation. My task is painting on the bead board  witch is going to be the ceiling. It was tougher than it look to paint nicely in side of all those grooves. 

その頃夫は廊下のコートクローゼットをリモデル中。これは２ndベッドルームから（今は私のオフィス）のクローゼットだったものを、内側をふさぎ、外側をあけて共有のコート／シューズクローセットにすると言うもの。

Meanwhile I am painting outside, my husband is working on the coat/shoes closet which is used to be a 2nd bed room (now is my office) closet.

廊下からコートを掛けるように。下の方は靴用に改装。これからフレームとドアーがとクラウンモールデングが付きます。これだけでも週末殆どを費やす事に。自力改装は思たより大変です。

 opining outside. Lower part is going to be for shoes drawers. A frame, a door a crown moulding are attaching soon though. It takes almost entire weekend. House renovation is very time consuming. 

へとへとになった８時頃に近所のパブへ食事に行きました。かがり火に吸い寄せられる〜！やっとホット一息です。

普段は健康的な野菜中心のメニューを考える様にしているのですが、たまにはこういうのも良いもんだ。でもフォートラングレーのレストランは、全体的にとてもヘルスコンシャスだと思う。バーガーのザイドに、有無を言わせずにサラダが提供される（フレンチフライじゃなくってね）店もあります。好い事です。

We usually have more health diet which is veggie main but this kind of things are satisfying sometimes especially after you work so hard physically. I like that most restaurants in town is likely to be healthier than average. Some shops offer salad for the side of your burger instead of french fries. That's a good thing. 

さて、これからも週末はほぼこの様になりそうです。

A peaceful Friday. Coffee with a friend.

今日のフレザーリバー。雲のパターンがなかなか良ろしい。この時点ではちょっと曇りぎみの２時過ぎ、おだやかな金曜日です。

It's a peaceful Friday afternoon. It was a bit cloudy at that time but look at this pattern of the sky over the liver!

お昼過ぎにお友達が、ご注文下さったピアスを受け取りに私の住む町にやって来てくれので、一緒にお茶しに行きました。その道すがらの教会と青空が奇麗でした。

It was very sunny earlier. The church on my way to the cafe, where I was gonna meet up with a friend, was charming under the very blue sky. She came to pick up the earring I made for her sister. I appreciate it!

Blacksmith cafe.　このClafoutiっていうカスタードのお菓子がお気に入りです。チェリー入り。彼女も同じ物を。楽しく話に花が咲きましたね。

This is my favourite sweet called Clafouti. Yummy! We had an interesting conversation over coffee and sweets.

先日買ったエアープランツはこんなふうに飾ってあります。まだお家のリノベーションが完了していなくてすべてが一時的な配置ですが、この飾り方は本採用かな。

昨日はやっと、２週間かかってキッチンカウンタートップの計測の来てくれました。カウンターが届くのに後３週間かかるそうです。やれやれ。

さて、リノベーションは続きますが、殆どの大工仕事は夫任せにならざるを得ません。私はもっぱらデザイナーで、彼がコントラクターな感じです。私の今の実質的な仕事は、ペンキぬり、掃除、物のオーガナイズ、そしてクッションカバーなどの小物のデザインと制作といった所でしょうか。今、クッションカバーのデザインが決まり、制作に取りかかる前のブログ更新（ちょっと逃避、笑）。

早く色々な物の完成図を載せたいものですね〜。

The air plants I bought the other day are displayed like that. Since we are keep on renovating our house, everything is just temporally displayed but I am satisfied in that way with the air plants.

It took 2 weeks to get a guy who measure our kitchen countertop yesterday and it will take 3 more weeks to be installed. sigh. I want my kitchen!!

So renovation, renovation! lol. My husband is like a contractor (even a plumber) and I'm kind of a designer. My actual tasks now are painting, cleaning, organizing and making a small stuff such as cushion covers. I've just decided the design for them and writing this before I start to sew them together.

I dream about the day I proudly post all "before and after" photos.

Air plants / good custom to be healthy

今日は雨。我が家のあるパーク内に建つ町で一番古いキャリッジハウス。そんなすごいものを私たちは物置として使っていますが．．．

It's raining today. This is the oldest carriage house in our property. Despite of that importance, we use it as our storage. lol.

郵便局や夕飯のお買い物ついでにちょっと素敵な植物屋さん（？）に寄りました。

On my way back from my errand I stopped by the pretty green shop.

そしてこの方たちをゲット。エアープランツ。すでに２つ持っていて、他の２つを枯らしてしまったもので。今度はちゃんと育てますよ〜。一晩お水に浸けて、との事です。

And then I got them. Now they are being soaked. I had 4 air plants and make 2 died :( So this time I will take better care of them.

さて、今朝、この家で初めてお風呂に浸かってみました。お風呂はまだ改装していなくて、浅く古いタブを使うのはあんまり気が進まないものの、最近滞っていた健康的な習慣を再開しなくては、という意気込みとしてトライ。白湯を飲みながら、ゆっくり汗がでるのは気持ちがいい。

I took a bath in the morning the first time in this house. The tub is shallow and old so I feel a bit reluctant to use it though. But it was like a ritual to start over all of my healthy customs again, from today. 

引っ越しと改装で家がごちゃごちゃだし、埃っぽいし、場所がないし、何をどこに置いたか分からないし、で２年近く続けきた寝る前のストレッチや、朝のオイルプリング、トランポリンなどをもう１ヶ月以上していない！これはいけないと言う事で。

朝の野菜フルーツスムージーはかろうじて続いています。だって夫が作ってくれるから（笑）。そういう事って即効果が見えるものではないと思うけど、こういう習慣を身につけ、毒やケミカルな物を極力避ける様になってから、やはり以前よりずっと健康になった気がします。今日から再開！という誓いと覚え書きに為に書きました。この話題は時折書いて行こうと思います。

There are a lot of excuses why I haven't done any stretching, oil pulling, trampoline, like because of the moving, renovation, don't know where the thing, no place to put a yoga mat, too dusty and too crowded, so on so on... but today is the day I will get all good customs back. If I write (type) so I have to do so. Okay?

This is an important topic to me so I will write about it more specifically later. 

あ、英語で書こうとしているのも頭の健康を維持するためです。もちろん英語の上達に繋がればもっと良い！心理学の教授が、加齢して行く脳を活性化させる数あるエクササイズの中で、外国語でデールすると言うのがとってもいい、と宣っておられた。

Well, Why I try to write in English here is also for my brain health. My psychology professor said that dealing things with foreign language is one of the most effective exercises to prevent brain deterioration due to aging process.

今日のフレイザーリバー。

今日も穏やかなお天気で、その時は１３度でした。本当にこのまま春になればいいのに。

今日はオーダーを頂いていたジュエリーをいくつか仕上げました。

引っ越して以来、ずっとリノベーションを続けていて、家の中で物があっちへこっちへと移動し、未だに全く落ち着きません。が、そういう環境にも慣れるもので、何とか生活は始まっていますが。でも仕事となるとちょっと難しかったけれど、やっと自分の仕事場がまとまって来てたのでお仕事再開です。遅ればせながら．．．ですが。

前の家にくらべると今のオフィスはずーっと小さくで、もしかしたら前の家のワォークインクローゼットと同じくらいかもしれない。でもとっても落ち着く良い場所なんです。お気に入りです。完成したら写真を載せちゃう！

それからこの土地はとっても良い気に満ちていると思うの。気分が良くて、アーティストとしてはとても良いインスピレーションをもらえる感じです。作品が良くなるかな〜っと期待が高まります。私の作品を気に入ってオーダーしてくださる方がいる事に心より感謝！精進いたします、はい。

I made some earrings. I really appreciate that some people like my stuff and even order me to make some for them. I'm inspired by this place where is full of good spirits! I will be a better artist, I hope. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Interesting dinner

今日のフレイザーリバー。（正確には支流のベッドフォードチャンネル）
Today's Fraser liver. (Well, to be accurate, it is Bedford channel)

日曜日の午後４時前に川まで歩いてみたのですが、温かくてびっくり。１４度ありました。このまま春に突入するほど甘くはないと思うけれど日はどんどん長くなって来ている。先日となりのご夫人が花の球根を植えていたのであいさつをしたら、「ねぇ、私今日ロビンを見たのよ！」と興奮気味におっしゃられた。どうやらロビンは春を告げる鳥のようです。町は人々でにぎわい、数あるカフェのテラスにも沢山に人が座っていま
した。

Spring has come? It was very warm for January today. It was 14 degrees. People were having coffee outside patio of cafes, and the lady next door said that she saw a robin so the spring is around. I hope so too.

さて、先週は２回もなかなかユニークなディナーを頂いてしまいました。

ちゃんと予約と気合いを入れて行くディナーは久しぶりなので、余計楽しかった。

木曜日はWhite Rockの海沿いに建つ、お気に入りのレストラン、Uli'sへ。

Beer pairing dinner というイベントに参加しました。定期的に行われているこのイベントは、その日ごとに選ばれたLocal brewerの４つのビールとそれにあわせたコースメニューを楽しむもの。この夜は、Four Windsというブランド。

We went to our favourite restaurant in White Rock to attend a beer pairing dinner on Thursday night. That night the selected brewer was Four Winds from Delta BC.

どれもとっても美味しかった！特筆すべきは１番目のビールとデザートについて。

とーっても酸っぱく甘いフルーティーな香りのNectarousは杏ジュースの様でいて甘みなし。フルーツは全く使っていないそうです。ちょっとびっくりな味でした。

そして、デザートにビールをマリアージュ、というのはやった事なかったので、

半信半疑で頂いた黒ビールとダークチョコレートのケーキのコンビネーション。

これがなんともお互いを引き立てる味で、驚きの締めくくりでした。

It was all amazing but I would like to especially mention of the first beer, Nectarous, and the dessert and porter combination. Nectarous was a very tart and had apricot like note, and was very unique beer I had never tasted before. However, the sourness comes from hop not fruits. 

I'd never tried a beer and a sweet combination either. surprisingly it was very good! the black porter beer compliment the dark chocolate cake nicely. Very fashionable ending that we were very satisfied.

金曜日はVancouver Downtownに今年初めて、そして公共交通機関を使って初めて出て行きました。運良く乗り継ぎがすべて上手く行ったので、以前住んでいたSurreyの家からよりも速く、１時間２０分ほどでバラード駅に到着！距離はもっと遠くなったのに不思議。LangleyからCoquitlamのBraid駅へ走る高速バスの御陰です。バンクーバーではお買い物をしたり、両親の家に寄ったり、お友達の美容室で髪を切ってもらったり、と有意義に過ごし、最後に合流した夫と共にW Hastings x Carral StreetのPidginというフュージョン和食系のレストランへ。もちろん目的はDine Out Vancouver Festivalのメニューです。

I went to Vancouver downtown the first time in this year and also was the first time by the public transportation from Fort Langley on Friday. Here is supposed to be farther than our former place in Surrey from Vancouver Downtown but luckily no wait for buses and a train so I took only an hour and 20 minute! Wow!

I spent a quality time out there including my nice hair cut by my friend stylist. And then my husband caught up with me in the evening for dinner.

The restaurant we choose was Pidgin, Japanese fusion, on Carral Street between W Hastings and Cordova Street.

なんともユニークなメニューで、 日本料理とはかなり違う物の、素材はそれっぽくもあり。不思議で複雑なメニューでしたがどれも楽しかった！

デザートは上のメニューに書いていませんが、ホワイトチョコレートのムース、ゴマのクランブルのせ、でした。ごまの香りがとても良かった。

I felt that they were far from Japanese cuisine but the many of ingredients and some presentation were. We enjoyed those complicated yet unique dished very much. Desert wasn't on the menu above but it was Cramelized white chocolate mousse, black sesame crumble. It was amazing too.

やはり良い食事は気持ちを豊かにするものですね。

New year, new dream.

2015年、１月１日の朝日。　
In the morning of January 1 2015.  Bedford channel, Fraser liver Fort Langley.

さい先の良い様な写真ですが、実際に良い予感に満たされた年明けでした。
この場所には良いエネルギーがあふれている。

Fort Langleyに引っ越してからちょうど１ヶ月、最後のブログ更新から数年が経ち．．．。

その間に私の人生は激動していました。結婚して、Vancouver downtown からSurreyに移り、
学校が（一応、笑）終わり、約１３年を共に過ごした愛猫をもっと良い場所（そう思いたい！）に送り、自分の人生も半世紀が過ぎ、それをきっかけに何もかも新しく、より良く生きなおしてしまいたくなり、現在に至った訳です。

そういう事で、自分のためにブログを再開しようと思い立った次第。

なぜ今日からかと言うと、自分たちでボロ屋をリノベーションしているので、昨日やっと自分のオフィスを手に入れ、大画面Macさんをデスクの上に設置できたので。

Commission art の依頼も何件かたまっているので、今日から新規一転、益々良い仕事をしようと思います。

新しい地での生活がすばらしいものになる事を信じて！


It was a perfect new year's day in 2015, which I was filled with good fortune. Here in Fort Langley is full of good spirits and destination of our happiness.

I'm sitting in my new office and typing this now, where we finally put together including my big Mac, (it's my computer not my food lol!) on my new desk yesterday.  So let me start my blog over again.

It's been a month since we moved into this old house yet new for us :),  well, we are still doing our house renovation, and been few years since my last post of the blog. My life has changed drastically since then. Married to the best guy, moved to Surrey from Vancouver downtown, Finished school, sent my beloved kitty to the better place, a half century of my life was past, and moved in here where we've always admired after all. So on so on.

I believe that our new lives here will be amazing!
