さて、火曜日の事。BC州の観光局の日本語サイトにたびたび記事を書いていらっしゃるお友達が、私の住む地域に点在するワイナリーの取材をされたいと言う事で、一緒に連れて行って頂きました。最初に行ったのは、ワイナリーが併設されている大きなファーム。我が家から１５分程のクラウス・ベリーファーム
It was on Tuesday, my friend who writes articles for the website "Super Natural British Colombia" in Japanese, took me to the local wineries with, since she needed to introduce them to the site. First visit was Krause Berry Farms, where was a big farm with shops, cafes and a winery together, and was just 15 mins away from my place.
ここはU-ピック、自分で果物を摘めるので有名な所。
The farm was famous for U-pick.
大きな建物に入ってすぐはファッッジやキャンデーが焼き菓子を売っています。
Around entrance was a shop for fudges, candies and bakery goods.
その奥は自家製ジャムやフルーツソースや色々な可愛らしい雑貨などが所狭しと並んでいます。
And deep inside of the building was a shop for their original fruits jams, syrups, sources and many more cute and nice stuff.
そして有名な季節のタルト。今のシーズンは苺です。広大な畑のU-ピックも苺。
The seasonal pies or tarts are popular here and strawberry was on season now. U- pick too.

そしてさらにその奥の、お目当てのワイナリーへ。
And deeper inside was the winery where we aimed to.
内装はウェスタンカントリー調？バーカウンターの椅子は馬の鞍で、またがって座ります。
Inside of winery was like this, kind of western country style? You sat on the saddles for wine tasting.
私達３人組の試飲を担当して下さったワインエキスパートのお姉さん。ここのワイナリーはフルーツワインです。グレープのものとはひと味もふた味もちがいます。
試飲は５ドルですが、その後ボトルを購入すれば無料になります。
Our wine expert was this lady who explained wines one by one. This winery was for fruits wine and no grape wine available here. They were very different from grape wines. Tasting cost $5 but if you buy a bottle it became free.
私達が試したのは、ルバーブワイン、グリーンアップルワイン、ユリカブルーベリーワイン、ラズベリーシャンペン、ラズベリーデザートワイン、ブルーベリーボートワインでした。とれも甲乙付けがたい美味しさです。フルーツワインだからと言って全部甘い訳ではありません。それぞれが違った風味を持っていてあきません。
We tried Rhubarb wine, Green apple wine, Eureka blueberry wine, Raspberry champagne, Raspberry dessert wine, and Blueberry port wine. Everyone was so good so hard to say which one was the best. Even fruits wine, they were not always sweet. Every wine has a unique flavour so you don't get tired.
試飲の後は、チーズのプレートと
After tasting, we had a cheese platter,
苺のワッフルやラズベリーのパイを分け合いながら、またまたサングリアやグラスワインをオーダー。なんという贅沢なお昼ご飯でしょう！しかも連れて来てくれたお友達にごちそうになってしまいました。至れり尽くせりで感謝感激です。
a strawberry waffle and a raspberry pie to share. And also got some glasses of sangria and wine. What a gorgeous lunch we had! Moreover the lunch was my friend's treat for me! I was so thankful.

その後は３０分近く移動して、こちらのワイナリーへ。シャバートン・エステート ・ワイナリーです。こちらは一般的に知られるグレープのワインです。
We moved to another winery where about 30 mins away, called Chaberton Estate Winey. The winery produced orthodox grape wines.
ほんとうはこちらのビストロ、バッカスでランチを、と考えていたのですが、火曜日はお休みでしたので、試飲のみ。
Actually we wanted to have lunch at Bacchus bistro of Chaberton but it was closed on Tuesday. So we went there for wine tasting.
ワインショップの中はこんな感じです。写真はお借りしました。
試飲はフリーで、メニューから３種類選びます。私達は、ゴーツトラミナー（白）、ピノグリー（白）メルロー（赤）を試しました。私はゴーツトラミナーが好きでした。
Inside of the shop was like that. (The photo was borrowed. )
The tasting was free and you could pick 3 out of menu. We tried Gewürztraminer (White), Pinot Gris (white), and Merlot (red). I personally liked Gewürztraminer the best.
カナダのワインはナイアガラのアイスワイン意外はあまり知られていないと思うのですが、BC州のワインはなかなか優秀で、ヨーロッパやアメリカでも沢山の賞を取っているんですよ。特にオカナガンバレーのワインはとても優れていますが、世界的には生産量が少ないのであまり海外に出て行かないみたいですね。ここ、フレーザバレーのワインもなかなかの物です。機会があればぜひお試しあれ！
Canadian wine is not really famous in the world except ice wine from Niagara. Actually BC wine is very excellent and many of them won priced medals from Europe and USA. Especially many of them from Okanagan Valley are outstanding. Even some in here, Fraser Valley are also Priced medal winners. However, the amount to production is small in BC when compared to the world so you might have no chance to get them in your local if you are out of Canada. I wish you would try them sometime.
